Be prepared for your test
In order to ensure the adhesiveness of the electrodes and proper responses, avoid putting cream, lotion or perfume on your skin. It is better to bathe or shower before attending the clinic.
Cold weather may decrease velocity of the nerves. Use warm gloves and socks in cold days.
It is recommended to wear loose clothing and bring a tank top.

Please consider that your neurologist and EMG technician are males.
Bring a list of all your medications and tell your EMG doctor if you have a pacemaker or taking a blood thinner medication (anticoagulant) such as warfarin.
There are no restrictions relative to regular daily activities (eating, working, driving, exercising, etc.) before and after the test.
It is estimated that your test will take about 30 minutes. The results will sent to your referring doctor within 48 hours.
